Darlene Winfield's inspiration to paint evolved from her extensive worldwide travels and opportunities to live abroad. During this time, she spent years drawing and studying art and art history in Greece, Italy, England, Mexico and Indonesia. The thrill of visiting museums in these countries, to see great works of art in person, left an indelible impression on her and continues to influence her paintings to this day.
Darlene is a self-taught artist; however, she did study at a number of schools and also attended private lessons.
Her painting method is traditional application which is enhanced in some work with layering and glazing techniques. Darlene's medium of choice is oil.
Darlene's hard work is paying off with some international recognition. Darlene was chosen as a ATIM TOP 60 CONTEMPORARY ARTIST FOR 2018 - an international award from New York. Her work will be in a magazine that goes to 700 Barnes and Noble and other outlets.
Darlene resides just north of Toronto, Ontario.
