Warren Petersonpic.jpg

St. Joseph Island Ontario artist Warren Peterson has been painting and drawing landscapes for over 50 years and never gets tired of the challenge and inspiration that Nature provides.

Warren’s love for the Algoma and Lake Superior regions was honed by his life-long exposure to works by the famous Group of Seven artists and the lore of their painting expeditions to these regions. Some of their influence can be seen in his paintings.

Warren is a contemporary realist who primarily paints with acrylics, a water based paint known for its fast drying and difficulty in handling. He uses multiple layers and glazes of colour to create images that look very real yet have a painterly quality and emotive application when looked at up close.

Warren is an Honours Graduate in Advertising and Graphic Design from Humber College in Mississauga Ontario. Primarily a self-taught artist, much of his design background can be seen in the visual balance his images have and the way they draw the viewer into the works. His emotional attachment to the land and his design sense is conveyed through paint, leaving you with a serine sense of being in that very spot at that very time of day.

Having always worked in design, advertising and marketing for his business career he recently chose to pursue his love of landscape painting full time after retiring and works from his home/studio on St. Joseph Island. Warren also teaches landscape painting and drawing through various workshops and is available for select commission work for your home, cottage, and business or as a gift that could last for generations.

Warren’s works can be found in private collections throughout Canada and in California, Oregon, Washington, Florida and Texas USA; also in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
