Teasels 2
A detailed study of wild teasels with their prickly stem and leaves. Their flowers are multi-coloured purple, dark pink, lavender or white flowers that form a head on the end of the stem. Lovely display of nature captured in a quiet scene. Groulx has masterfully painted the natural beauty of this scene, with vivid colors and intricate details, using the old masters method of painting in layers of thin oil paint that transports you to the depth of this peaceful scenic moment in nature. From a distance is when this artwork really comes to life, inviting the viewer into its depths. Groulx writes, "As an avid gardener I was drawn to this hot summer scene of contrasting wild flowers. The Teasels with their feisty sharp structures contrasted beautifully with the fluffy yellow flowers of the goldenrod and the adjoining foliage. Somehow Mother Nature planted the textural differences adjoining each other as well as the most notable grower might.
