I am a painter. I am originally from the country. I grew up on an apple orchard near the small town of Brussels, Ontario, Canada. I ended up at Guelph University to study art mainly due to the atmosphere of the town and campus. I’ve always liked making things and working with my hands; but it was putting paint on canvas where everything sort of clicked. Because I started making a lot of uneducated work at a relatively young age I sort of got used to my own way of doing things. This way of working is still present in my practice today even after the education. It allows me to think about painting in a way that could never really be taught to me in school.
