full moon over colourful ravine

Hunter's Moon

Hunter’s Moon is inspired by an evening walk in Lyons Valley Park in Oakville, a spot I can’t get enough of. I got lucky one night and saw the full moon climbing over the 16-Mile Creek ravine, just after sunset. The sky had a pink afterglow, and the autumn leaves looked like they were glowing, almost fluorescent. The little stream flowing down to the ravine edge was picking up purple shades from the shadows. It felt alive, colourful and full of energy, and I had to paint it. It’s Fire.

Acrylic on canvas.
